Indoor Garage Sale (May 5 & 6, 2023): To go along with the Falls City Chamber of Commerce Community Wide Garage Sale, we're having an indoor garage sale. Attract more bargain hunters by setting up in a comfortable, climate controlled environment with a few others selling their products as well.
Graduation 2023 Party (May 13, 2023): We're having a graduation party for the 2023 Seniors. Up to 8 Seniors can setup and have refreshments provided. Check the page for more details!
Once in a while
Craft Days: Some simple, or sometimes not so simple, craft that we get the stuff for and either help or have someone there to help create. Typically geared towards kids, but sometimes the older as well depending on the interest.
Some examples would be like the bird treat we helped visitors make at Earth Day at Stanton lake. Around Halloween, have a pumpkin carving. Around Christmas, make a gingerbread item (house, train, etc.) Throughout the year, it could be just about anything.
Activity with a Professional: I want to invite different people to interact with our customers. This could range from police officers, firemen or doctors to teachers, librarians or community leaders. It may just be reading a book or creating a craft. While they're there, they may talk about their profession as well.
If possible, I would like to try to create this in a way that will reach both young kids and teens or adults who are interested in the career - most likely the young kids shortly after the older's presentation.
Sports on the Big Screen: From time to time, we will project a Husker game or stream a high school game or some other popular game on our back wall. Like our movie night, it will be a more relaxed, come and go as you like style and won't be overly loud to disturb all the guests in other areas of the shop.
We may try making these in to "parties" where, if you pay a cover charge, it may include a drink and some simple snacks. Haven't decided if that would be a good addition or not.
Dances: We may possibly have a dance in our party room in the basement from time to time as well. Sometimes for the younger crowd, sometimes for the older crowd, sometimes for whoever.
However, to do dances, we either have to hire a DJ or get a more expensive license for music in the shop because a standard license does not cover dances.
Weekly
Movie Night: We want to project a big screen movie on our back wall. It will be more of a come and go as you want, just like if it were playing on any tv in the place, than a complete "movie going" experience with the loud surround sound, etc. But it's still a fun and different way to get to watch a show. Probably typically on a Friday or Saturday evening.
Game Night: We are going to have a lot of board games and such stored in a section of the recreation room. Whether you are a member of the recreation room or not, you can request a game to play upstairs anytime. However, we want to possibly have one night a week where we encourage families or groups of friends to come in just to play games.
To help support this night, we are considering having some type of automatic discount for your purchases while you're playing. Then we are also considering having a second discount, whether you're playing or not, where we will pick a game for the evening and you get to play a round before to earn a bigger discount. Such as: Trivial Pursuit - answer so many questions on a random card correctly or Battleship - pick so many coordinates and receive a discount for sinking a ship, and more.
Monthly
Binge Day: This replaces one of the weekly movie nights. Instead of just one movie, it will be a series of movies on the big screen all day. Such as the 4 Divergent movies, the 3 Back to the Future movies, etc. Again, just something fun to do and everyone can came and go as usual since they'll just be playing in the background, but may have some type of reward if you can stick around through the whole thing.
Date Night: This is actually one of my favorite ideas. I think it could be a lot of fun and helps incorporate the community. We'll pick a local restaurant and ask for 2 different options for a meal to choose from. People will sign up ahead of time for Date Night and we will get the meals from the restaurant to serve at our shop - we'll provide the drinks and desserts, of course. We may even get flowers from the local flower shop to decorate the tables. After dinner, we'll show a movie on the big screen as well.
Typically, this will probably be a weekend evening, but once in a while, we'll probably try for a weeknight for those who always work weekends or just have trouble getting away on the weekend. The movie afterward will be the same as all of our movies, anyone can join and watch without actually participating in Date Night.
Game Tournament: We have several games in our recreation room which we will to rotate a monthly game tournament. There will be a small fee to enter which will either all or mostly be given back as prize money for the top 1 - 3 players. We'll create a bracket for game play to provide an estimated time of play before hand, but hope people will hang out all day watching or playing other games while it's not their turn in the tournament.
Yearly
City Wide Garage Sale: This is one that we're possibly considering. During the city wide garage sale Saturday, we may sell booth spaces in our meeting room for people to setup all in one place and out of the weather.
Graduation Party/Open House: We would love to help the graduates celebrate their special day. We will sell booth spaces for graduates to setup pictures, memorabilia, etc. and to gather around to greet guests along with their fellow graduates. We will provide snacks and create a slideshow movie of all the graduates who have a booth to play throughout the time. We can even help design and print the graduation / open house announcements. We take the work out of it for you.
New Year's Eve Party: Count down to the new year at a family-oriented, alcohol-free New Year's Eve party. We could even serve breakfast afterward.
Create-a-Flavor Contests: Several of our items (rolled ice cream, gelato, smoothies, lattes, etc.), we may have a contest each year to create a flavor. If your flavor sells the best, it will earn a permanent spot on our "Contest Winners Menu" with the name of your choice.
