If you don't already know me, you probably want to know a little more about who I am before you blindly give away your hard earned money.
My name is Ryan Schutte. I was born and raised in the Verdon/Falls City area. I went to Dawson-Verdon High School, graduating in 1995. I have only been away from this area from 1995 – 1997 when I went to DeVry college in Kansas City.
I am a workaholic. I have no wife, girlfriend or kids and get bored sitting around doing nothing. I currently visit my parents and 5th grade sister 3 nights a week and during the school year, make a hot breakfast for them the next morning. I am active in my sister's life, going to her school events and some of the other things she does. I also have an older sister who lives in York, two younger sisters who one lives in Oklahoma and the other here in Falls City, and a brother who graduated high school a couple years ago who is in the army, currently stationed in Colorado.
In 1999 I started a computer sales & repair store in Falls City named KawreS SuperStore, or KawreS for short. It is still currently going strong, outliving, in Falls City, two other store-front computer stores and at least one home-based computer service that was strongly promoted. Our sales are currently as strong as ever.
I don’t let things go easily. I am a very diligent worker and love numbers, logic problems and figuring out how to make things happen. I know from previous experience, starting KawreS, that a business usually starts out slower and grows. I’m not going to give up after 6 months or a year because it’s not doing as well as I believe it will once it’s established. I also know from KawreS to watch and adjust over time. What KawreS is today, computer sales & service and custom framing (sub-named Get Framed) is quite different from how it started as computer sales & service as well as a large variety of knick knacks, novelty lights, office supplies and more. The core is still there, but so much else has changed. Diversity is also a key to me, which is part of my idea behind Smiley Bee as well.
I am also no stranger to the many hours that will be required to run Smiley Bee as well as KawreS. In January 2015, I started working overnights, full-time, at Kwik Shop in addition to running KawreS full time during the days. At Kwik Shop, within a few years, I became Assistant Manager. I was offered the position of Manager in 2021, but declined the offer, for one reason, because I knew I was trying to start Smiley Bee and didn’t want to leave them without a manager again just months later.
In the last 7 ½ years, I have enjoyed working at Kwik Shop, providing excellent customer service, getting to know customers, figuring out how much food to put out, and when, in order to have food out when customers come but not waste too much either, organize, clean, lead, and nearly everything else. I have acted as manager a few different times throughout the years, sometimes for a month or two at a time. There have been many times, seems like almost every year, that I have worked nearly 60 hours a week for a few weeks in a row while still running my own computer store.
I have always enjoyed cooking. Over the years I have perfected my cheesecakes and have also come up with great recipes for many cookies and other desserts. Making hot breakfasts many, many school mornings over the past 15 years, I have also come up with a biscuits & gravy recipe I love, as well as a lot of variations for pancakes, french toast, eggs, quesadillas, breakfast casseroles and much more (though, at least to begin with, we will only be serving biscuits & gravy, pancakes & french toast at Smiley Bee.)
I have been here all my life, and I'm not planning on going anywhere soon. I have a hard work ethic, don't give up on my dreams easily and do my best not to let people down. If you have a little extra money you can invest, I hope you will consider investing in Smiley Bee - you won't be disappointed (in your return or the goods.)
Thank You for your consideration.
